Fred Brown, the celebrated singer-songwriter, has stepped into the limelight with his debut solo EP, Distraction. Leading the way is the evocative single "Marks Will Match". Once part of the band automan, Brown now ventures into a more introspective soundscape, blending soulful lyrics with passionate guitar riffs and soaring vocals.
"Marks Will Match" starts with an intimate vibe, then crescendos into a dynamic fusion of pounding drums, expansive guitars, and resonant bass. Brown reflects on the track, saying, "These singles, and the EP as a whole, signify a transition in my life. It’s a time where uncertainty looms, but it hasn’t quite realized itself yet. It’s standing in the distance, with a pistol on its hip. But until you reach that point, you sweep things under the rug and try your best to have fun. Everything becomes a distraction."
Recorded at Goldsmith Studios and Brown’s own space, the track features Ben Leftley on drums, Joey Crouch handling bass and engineering, and Henry Arrowsmith on piano. Brown’s solo work, already catching the eye of tastemakers, is set to solidify his reputation as an artist worth watching.
