The Love Buzz Drops Radiant Genre-Bending Track “Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)”

Cork-based scuzz-pop outfit The Love Buzz offer a glimpse of their upcoming album Earworms with radiant single "Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)." This genre-bending gem intertwines 90s alt-rock aesthetics with 70s power-pop and 00s garage-rock stylings—creating something genuinely captivating.

Opening with a lulling mid-tempo and catchy guitars, the track builds beautifully. Sharp lead vocals layer upon crunchy yet fuzzy synths, crafting an enchanting production that feels nostalgic yet refreshingly modern.

The band’s origin story for this track is wonderfully spontaneous. "We put together this song off the back of a random riff, kieran played it in a search for a new song, it came together within 30 minutes, keeping all the first lyrics, frills and low vocals. It was recorded with a broken Fuzz War pedal and a micro Korg with only black keys. The lyrics are about living on the dole and weekends that go on for months."

An explosive but luscious number—that’s how you’d describe this urgent yet hypnotic anthem.

The track perfectly captures the band’s reputation for high-energy live sets and uplifting indie-tinged melodies. Tongue-in-cheek, hopeful, and energetic, The Love Buzz continue expanding their fanbase with each release, and honestly? It’s easy to see why.
